The importance and excellence of Al-Aqsa Mosque

Al-Aqsa Mosque

What we usually call "Masjid Al-Aqsa" is also known by other names such as: "Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa" and "Al-Haram Al-Qudsi Al-Sharif" etc. This historic mosque is located in the Palestinian city of Jerusalem (al-Quds), which is currently occupied by the occupying Zionist state of Israel. This mosque is the first Qibla of Muslims. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) prayed towards the Al-Aqsa Mosque for about sixteen or seventeen months.

After Masjid Haram and Masjid Nabawi, Masjid Al-Aqsa is the place and rank in terms of Shariah importance and excellence. This blessed mosque has been mentioned in various places in Quran and Hadith. The places around this mosque are called blessed places. Due to these reasons, Muslims around the world look at Al-Aqsa Mosque and Quds with great devotion and love.

The place where the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was taken from Masjid Haram on the occasion of Ascension, is this Masjid al-Aqsa. He led all the prophets in this mosque. He departed from this mosque on his journey to Miraj. This blessed journey of the Holy Prophet from Masjid Haram to Masjid Al-Aqsa has been described by the Holy Quran as follows:

Translation: "Glory be to Him Who took His servant by night from Masjid al-Haram to Masjid al-Aqsa, the surroundings of which We have blessed, that We may show them some of Our signs." Verily, He is All-Hearing and All-Seeing."

Al-Aqsa Mosque has the honor of being the "first Qibla" of Muslims. This means that when the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) migrated from Makkah to Madinah; So he and his Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, turned towards the Al-Aqsa Mosque and continued to pray for about seventeen months. The Sahabi Rasool Hazrat Bara bin Azib says:

Translation: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, prayed for sixteen or seventeen months, turning towards Bayt al-Maqdis; While you wanted the Qibla of the Holy Prophet to be towards Bait Allah (Kaaba Sharif). ".

Al-Aqsa Mosque is the mosque that was founded on earth about forty years after Masjid Haram. Abu Dharr Ghafari narrates this passage

Translation: "I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about the first mosque to be built on earth." He replied: "Masjid Haram". I asked: Then who (which mosque was built after that)? So you replied: "Masjid al-Aqsa". I asked the question: How long is the interval during the construction of these two? So he replied: "Forty years, then the whole earth is a mosque for you, wherever you find the time to pray, pray."

From this Hadith Sharif, it is known that Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him) founded Masjid Al-Aqsa 40/years after the establishment of "Masjid Haram". Muhadditheen have further explained that just as Ibrahim (peace be upon him) renovated the Kaaba Al-Mushrafah, the Al-Aqsa Mosque was renovated by Yaqub (peace be upon him) or Dawood (peace be upon him) and Solomon (peace be upon him) completed it.

In a hadith Sharif, a person who performs Hajj or Umrah by wearing Ihram for Hajj or Umrah from Al-Aqsa Mosque is given the good news of forgiveness of future and previous sins. It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Salama, the wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him) that she heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying:(Sunan Abi Dawud: 1741)

Translation: "Whoever wears Ihram for Hajj or Umrah from Masjid al-Aqsa to Masjid Haram, his previous and previous sins will be forgiven." or Paradise will become obligatory for him.”

Al-Aqsa Mosque is one of the three mosques in which traveling with the intention of worshiping and praying is a reward. Imam Bukhari, may God have mercy on him, has mentioned this hadith under different chapters in his Sahih. Hazrat Abu Huraira (RA) says that the Prophet (PBUH) said: (Sahih Bukhari: 1189)

Translation: "One should travel (with the intention of worship) only for three mosques (and they are): Masjid al-Haram, Masjid of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and Masjid al-Aqsa."

In a hadith Sharif, the reward of one prayer performed in Al-Aqsa Mosque is said to be equal to the reward of fifty thousand prayers. Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said:(Sunan Ibn Majah: 1413)

Translation: "One prayer of a man in his home is equal to one prayer, his prayer in the neighborhood mosque is equal to twenty-five prayers, his prayer in the Jama Masjid is five. It is equal to a hundred prayers, his prayer in Masjid al-Aqsa is equal to fifty thousand prayers, (similarly) his prayer in my mosque (Masjid an-Nabawi) is equal to fifty thousand prayers, and one prayer of the same person in Masjid al-Haram. , is equal to one hundred thousand prayers”.

It is also a characteristic of Al-Aqsa Mosque that it was from this mosque that the journey of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) took place. You were given the gift of prayer in the same journey. This incident is mentioned in a long hadith in Bukhari Sharif. The achievement of the prayer part is that firstly, Allah Ta'ala gave him the gift of fifty prayers during this journey. Then on the saying of Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) that his Ummah will not be able to perform these fifty prayers. He requested Allah Almighty to reduce the number of prayers. Then Allah reduced this prayer and left five prayers for the Ummah Muhammadiyah. (Bukhari: 349)

After the First Crusade, when Christians captured Jerusalem on July 15, 1099; So they exchanged a lot in Al-Aqsa Mosque. Then Salah al-Din Ayyubi conquered Bait al-Maqdis in 538 AH/1187 AD; So the Al-Aqsa Mosque was cleansed from the myths of Christians. For more than 88 years, Bait al-Maqdis and Masjid al-Aqsa have been in Muslim possession since the Farooqi era. It is a pity that for a few years now, Quds and Al-Aqsa Mosque are in the possession of the usurping Zionist state of Israel; But even today, the Al-Aqsa Mosque is under the management of Jordan's "Ministry of Endowments and Protection of Islamic Sanctuaries". We pray that Allah Ta'ala frees Al-Quds and Al-Aqsa Mosque from the possession of these cruel, oppressive and usurping people and that the sacrifice of the Palestinians proves fruitful! Amen!
